Immigration Law 2024-42 enters force after extensive constitutional censorship

In force Residency

Law 2024-42 introduced surviving measures on integration, language, shortage-occupation regularisation, Talent permits and France Asile. The Constitutional Council censured 35 provisions, many as legislative riders, including prominent proposed family-reunification restrictions. France therefore did not enact the legacy timeline claims that long-term residence rose universally from five to seven years or that the censured family conditions became current law; the EU long-term resident card still uses a five-year lawful-residence test.

Who it affects

Foreign nationals using French residence, work, integration, asylum and regularisation procedures.
