Digital-nomad visa proposals remain unenacted

Members of Mexico's Chamber of Deputies have introduced proposals to recognise digital nomads in migration and tax law, including initiatives published in 2023 and February 2025. The proposals have not created a dedicated visa category. The current SRE visa list continues to use the existing visitor, temporary-resident, student and permanent-resident categories; temporary residence based on financial solvency remains the relevant official route for many foreign-paid remote workers.
