The standard 2026 EU Blue Card salary criterion is €5,942 gross per month excluding holiday allowance. A reduced €4,754 criterion can apply to qualifying recent graduates under the IND conditions. The contract, qualification and mobility requirements are separate from salary.

2026 highly skilled migrant thresholds take effect

For 2026 the gross monthly threshold excluding holiday allowance is €5,942 for a highly skilled migrant aged 30 or over, €4,357 for someone under 30 and €3,122 under the reduced criterion. The amount applicable at application or a qualifying employer change must be checked against IND rules; salary must also be market-conform.

For tenancies starting in 2026, social rent is up to €932.93 and mid-price rent runs above that to €1,228.07 subject to the points system. Above €1,228.07 with at least 187 points is private-sector rent. The statutory maximum annual increase for the private sector in 2026 is 4.4%.
