Japan’s J-Find route gives some recent top-university graduates up to two years

What the evidence shows

Japan’s J-Find, formally the Future Creation Individual route, is available to eligible adults who received a bachelor-equivalent, master’s or doctoral qualification from a qualifying university within the previous five years. The route supports job hunting, entrepreneurial preparation and other remunerative activity. The initial permission is up to one year, with extension possible to a maximum of two years, and applicants must show approximately ¥200,000 in savings.

Why it matters

J-Find creates a job-search and startup-preparation window without first securing a conventional employer-sponsored role. The university list, graduation timing and individual application evidence are decisive constraints.

What this does not prove

• The qualification must come from a university on the current eligible list and be at least bachelor-equivalent.
• The qualification must have been awarded within the previous five years.
• The initial period is up to one year; reaching the two-year maximum requires an extension application.
• Applicants must show approximately ¥200,000 in personal savings and meet the document and insurance requirements.
• A Certificate of Eligibility can streamline processing but does not guarantee visa issuance.
