Morocco officially launched construction of the Kénitra–Marrakech high-speed line on 24 April 2025. ONCF reported in April 2026 that work was progressing across the programme, whose infrastructure and equipment budget for the high-speed line is MAD53 billion. The approved project ends at Marrakech; the former record's claim that a Marrakech–Agadir high-speed extension had been approved was unsupported.
Long-term transport connectivity between Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakech.
