Visitor conditions expressly allow overseas remote work
In force
Visa & immigration
Visitor visas applied for on or after 27 January 2025, and NZeTA-based visitor entry, can permit remote work for an overseas employer or client. The work must not be for a New Zealand employer, provide goods or services to a New Zealand person or business, or require physical presence at a New Zealand workplace. Immigration permission and tax treatment remain separate.
Who it affects
Tourists, visiting family members and digital nomads serving clients outside New Zealand.
