Opportunity Card opens a job-search residence route

In force Visa & immigration

The Opportunity Card permits eligible non-EU nationals to search for qualified employment in Germany for up to one year. Applicants qualify either through a recognised qualification or through the points route, which requires a qualifying foreign credential, baseline language ability and at least six points. Holders must secure their living costs and may generally work up to 20 hours per week and complete short job trials; a qualifying job offer may support a follow-on residence title.

Who it affects

Qualified non-EU nationals seeking work in Germany without already holding a qualifying job offer.
