Nationality Code Article 10 governs acquisition by marriage

Article 10 of the Moroccan Nationality Code permits a foreign woman married to a Moroccan man to file a declaration seeking Moroccan nationality while the marriage continues, after the household has maintained habitual and lawful residence in Morocco for at least five years. The Minister of Justice has one year to decide; silence counts as opposition. The provision is gender-specific and is not automatic citizenship for every foreign spouse after five years of marriage.
