Brazil renews humanitarian residence frameworks for Afghans and Ukrainians

In force Residency

Interministerial Ordinances 49 and 50 of December 2024 set the current humanitarian routes for eligible people affected by Afghanistan's instability and by the armed conflict in Ukraine. The Afghan framework covers temporary visas and residence under its eligibility and sponsorship rules; the Ukrainian framework allows affected Ukrainians and stateless people in Brazil to request two-year humanitarian residence. The former record's large admission totals were unsupported and have been removed.
