DACA renewals continue while initial grants remain barred

USCIS continues to accept initial and renewal DACA requests, but the federal injunction prevents approval of initial requests and their related employment authorization. Renewal requests may still be granted or denied under existing policy. DACA is deferred action rather than lawful immigration status or a permanent residence pathway.
