Department of State expands countries subject to visitor-visa bonds

In force Visa & immigration

The Department of State maintains a current list of nationalities for which otherwise-eligible B-1/B-2 applicants may be required to post a bond of USD5,000, USD10,000 or USD15,000. The consular officer selects the amount and the applicant must use the official payment process and designated ports of entry. The list and implementation dates can change, so the live Department of State page controls.

Who it affects

B-1/B-2 applicants who are nationals of a country on the current visa-bond list.
