Eligible EAD renewals receive a permanent extension of up to 540 days

DHS permanently increased the automatic extension period for eligible, timely filed Employment Authorization Document renewals from up to 180 days to up to 540 days. Eligibility depends on the EAD category and the information on the receipt notice and expired card; it is not a blanket extension for every Form I-765 applicant.
